Well I should add some notes to this conversation because we have "kind of" code of conduct and rules that apply to files and other forum activity.
First, executable files should be shared on 3rd party hosts and linked here. We like mega for this task because files are permanent, unless many other hosts that delete the files after some time/inactivity. Is up to the author to choose a way to share its files but he should use some that keeps files forever. For example, i regularly upload files to mega, but tests and files of less importance im sharing with puu.sh that will keep em for 3 months. Files should be accompanied by a virustotal scan url if they're in binary format, and been opened under responsability of the visitor.
Links/passwords should not be exchanged on PM/email, if anyone uploads a password protected file and dont share password, its probably triying to hide the contents to staff and maybe infecting users with malware, staff should be able to review the files at any time.
The HIDE bbcode is the way we selected to keep off the leechers, its obviously not perfect but it filters most of the freeloaders, so you should be using it on the file releases. If @dipro were using it on first hand, people should at least say thanks to download the file, that its indeed how he should be properly doing it, and the reason he gives to not sharing the password. Something not adding up...
All that being said, uploading any commercial project to this forum is an invitation to rape it to the oblivion and far away.
About "download only" users, it doesnt bother me and neither should you. What have anyone that is learning to comment? to some file he just encountered and just want to see for curiosity? i belive that "thanks" is enough, maybe this user dont have anything relevant to add to the topic, he just want to know how other programmer did some task... or just felt curiosity...
Users that post on more than 10 topics to unlock downloads on short timespan are being banned or warned. It happened like 5 times in last years so its not really a big problem. We all did this in any moment of our life anyway.
Theres rules and common sense to surf amsspecialist, use it!
ps+tldr: i will reopen the thread for the original propourse that is discuss "ReportPrint Plugin Actions" and ask dipro to use hide bbcode in case he want private disclose, instead password sharing.
